Earth Day falls on April 22nd each year, but many communities use the whole month of April to bring people together to learn, take action, or be hands on helping the environment. In the Bay Area, there’s a range of festivals and gatherings big and small. Here’s a selection of what’s happening for Earth Day, we hope you will be inspired to get involved!

Ecology Center’s Partnering with these Earth Day Events
- 4/16/16 Berkeley Bay Festival
All ages showcase of activities and environmental education. Come enjoy a day by the Bay with music and food. Fresh water and salt water fish exhibits, dragon boats and Cal Sailing, and the Adventure Playground will be open! Visit the Ecology Center booth for a reuse craft! - 4/23/16 Berkeley Earth Day Shoreline Clean Up

12-1pm • Bug Family Band
Give back to the Bay and all the creatures who call it home! Start off with an all-levels donation based yoga class. At 9am we’ll learn about pollution and cleanup strategies. Then we’ll head out to collect litter and record data, which will help change laws to improve the health of our ecosystem. Special guests Bug Family Band will offer folk rock for “kids and former kids,” from 12-1pm. This Earth Day event is ideal for families, students, or anyone who loves the ocean! - 4/23/16 Richmond Art Center: Upcycle
Create, see and learn at this hands-on maker festival for the whole family. Upcycling workstations will feature hands-on activities that creatively re-use materials otherwise headed for the landfill. Screen print and take home your very own T-shirt, make copper pressed drawings, colorful mosaics, relief prints with recycled materials, floating plastic sculptures, back strap weaving and so much more! Learn about ways to re-use, recycle, and downsize waste from local organizations like the Watershed Project. Live music from Vanessa Espinoza aka DJ AGANA. The Ecology Center will be there with an upcycled craft! - 4/15/16 Earth Day Event at Rossmoor Walnut Creek
Sustainable Rossmoor is planning its First Annual Earth Day Fair. Over 30 tables of education and resources will be available. - 4/16/16 El Cerrito Earth Day Celebration
The City of El Cerrito celebrates Earth Day through a morning of volunteerism and work parties, followed by socializing and music at the Volunteer Appreciation Lunch. - 4/20/16 BART Blue Sky Festival
Over 50 environmental organizations and exhibitors will be available for exploration at the festival. Bike valet parking will be provided. First 5,000 attendees to turn in a completed activity passport will receive a $6 BART ticket. - 4/20/16 Danville Earth Day
A fun day for the whole family. The Town of Danville’s Earth Day event is a free, fun and informative event for residents and visitors of all ages interested in sustainable landscape design, solar power and home energy-efficient products, recycling, hybrid and electrical vehicles and much more. - 4/23/16 Alameda Earth Day
Kick off Earth Day with a litter pick-up at Crown Memorial State Beach. The following festival at Washington Park will feature education and resources on how to live more sustainably, with fun activities and free giveaways. - 4/23/16 Earth Day San Francisco Street Fest
San Francisco’s Earth Day celebrations will highlight Eco activism, social justice, health and our community and environmental well-being. The day will feature activities such as a green fashion show, D.I.Y. workshops and classes, and even an Eco Carnival/Kids’ Zone. - 5/1/16 Albany Arts & Green Festival
Albany’s festival will feature live youth performances and green resources. Booths will offer resources and ideas for saving energy and water, connecting visitors with local green organizations and showing everyone how food and lifestyle choices can indeed make a difference.
