350 Bay Area and Californians Against Fracking invite you to come hear scientist, author and activist, Dr. Sandra Steingraber, author of Raising Elijah and Living Downstream, on the known and hidden dangers of fracking and how to build a movement to stop this extreme extraction and protect our communities, health and the climate.
Sandra has been a tireless advocate to prevent fracking in New York state and most recently helped deliver a health professionals letter to Governor Cuomo and the state legislature detailing the overwhelming body of scientific data which supports the continuation of a moratorium on fracking.
Come be inspired by Sandra’s scientific knowledge, and her stories of how communities are fighting this industry. We’ll also hear an update on the local stop fracking battles shaping up in four California counties this fall and to find out what you can do to help!
Special Benefit: This event is a fundraiser for the brave folks in four counties in California who have collected signatures to put Fracking Ban measures on their county ballots in November. The oil industry has already shown they will be fighting these measures — help show the Bay Area’s strong support for local communities standing up for local rights, clean air, water and energy and a safer climate for our children.
The event is Friday, July 25th from 7-9pm. Please RSVP for your tickets online here.
The Ecology Center is co-sponsoring this event, along with 350 Bay Area, Californians Against Fracking, Center for Biological Diversity, Food and Water Watch, and others. Read or listen to the story from KQED of the fracking battle shaping up on local ballots in four California counties.
