Dine Out for an Edible Education in Berkeley, 5/30/13

20130525dineoutMake one meal matter on Thursday, May 30th. Berkeley’s vibrant school garden and cooking programs are in danger of being cut after losing their federal funding for next year. You can help raise money for this program by simply eating out and enjoying a meal! A great line up of partnering restaurants have agreed to donate a portion of their sales to support this program.  Click here to check out a list of participating restaurants, and invite your friends along by joining the event on Facebook. Parents, teachers and community members have mobilized to organize this event, and are also working to find long term funding. Over the past 15 years, many children from the pre-K through high school level have benefitted from this program, which teaches them how food grown in the garden helps their bodies grow and also teaches them about science, math and many other subjects at the same time. Let’s eat out together on the 30th, and get the next generation growing in the garden.
