Come learn more about Community Choice energy! Hosted by the Berkeley Climate Action Coalition‘s Community Choice Working Group, this presentation frames Community Choice energy as a powerful vehicle for addressing the current climate and economic crisis through the development of local renewable energy resources. It describes what a Community Choice energy program is, how it is structured, how it procures electricity, and how it can benefit a community. The presentation also discusses the recent interest of many Bay Area communities in Community Choice, points to its history in the East Bay, and explains what has put it back on our agenda today. This is the compelling story of how a community can develop and control its local energy resources for its own benefit. This presentation will be followed by a half hour of discussion.
