The Natural Resources Committee of the California Assembly voted yesterday to move forward three bills that would place restrictions on fracking. The yes votes came from the five Democrats sitting on the committee. Nancy Skinner (serving the East Bay in the 15th District), Mark Stone (serving Santa Cruz and Monterey Counties in the 29th District), Wesley Chesbro (2nd District), Cristina Garcia (58th District), Al Muratsuchi (66th District), and Das Williams (37th District) all deserve acknowledgment for their leadership.
A similar bill was killed in CA legislature last year, and oil and gas interests and lobbies are poised to oppose these three. To read more, head to the LA Times, or the Center for Biological Diversity put out this press release.
