Be a Part of Sunday Streets Berkeley’s Next Success, 10/13/13

20130919sundaystreetsWe’re preparing for the return of Sunday Streets Berkeley on Sunday, October 13. The event will close two miles of downtown Berkeley to car traffic, and bring thousands of people out to stroll, bike, dance and play in the open street. Activities this year will include kids’ bike rodeo, bike repair, yoga, chess, pedal-powered music, dodgeball, Klezmer music, facepainting, Xtracycle test rides, AcroYoga, hula-hooping, ask-a-Berkeley Labs research scientist about home energy, and much, much more! A massive volunteer force makes this event a safe, fun and free success for everyone. Roles on the day of include intersection monitors, bike riding route rabbits, and mystery shifts. All volunteer shifts run for either the first or second half of the event, so you still have time to enjoy Sunday Streets, and include lunch and a t-shirt. Head to the volunteer page of the Sunday Streets website to sign up for a shift.

We also need help spreading the word before the event. Would you like to come to our weekly Farmers’ Markets and tell shoppers about the event, how they can participate, and ramp up excitement for this great, car-free, and free event? Click here to view the location and schedule for our Farmers’ Markets, and contact leah@ecologycenter.org to sign up for one day, several days, or a weekly post until October 13th.
