Next Friday, from 5-7 PM will be a one-night West Berkeley art event, showcasing the work of local artists at 12 neighborhood businesses. The Ecology Center Store is one of the locations, and we’re excited to welcome recycled-glass artists in our space! It’s going to be a fun evening of art and socializing, brought to you by the West Berkeley Design Loop.
There will be 12 locations hosting art events, easily walkable or bikeable:
San Pablo cluster: Keetsa, Ethnic Arts, Metro Lighting, Ohmega Salvage, DC Piano, and the Ecology Center Store
4th St. cluster: Earthsake, Stained Glass Garden, Builders Booksource, Truitt and White, Urban Home and Wooden Duck
The Ecology Center will be featuring Michael Spiegelhalter of NOMAglass, an artist from Oakland who uses 100% recycled glass to make a great line of tableware and jewelry. NOMAglass is the collaboration between Michael and his father Bill, and everything they create is from recycled glass – mostly old windows and wine and beer bottles. They operate out of their West Oakland studio using materials gathered locally or in Sonoma and Mendocino Counties. Their vision is to push the envelope of what is seen as possible with recycled materials in art and design, while creating unique and lasting products that are functional and beautiful. Prices are affordable for gifts for the holiday season, too! Come check it out, more details on the other locations and artists available here.
