Today, #GivingTuesday, is a global day dedicated to celebrating generosity and giving back to our communities. This #GivingTuesday, help us improve healthy food access for low-income families in 2015!
In 2014, the Ecology Center’s Market Match program gave thousands of families who rely on food stamps extra dollars to spend on fruits and vegetables grown by California farmers. This gave low-income families healthier food choices while boosting the bottom line of 1,000 local farmers, many of whom are struggling with the drought. The Ecology Center is leading the expansion of Market Match throughout the state, with a goal to bring this program to over 180 farmers’ markets in 2015!
That means more families, more farmers, and more communities who can participate in an equitable food system.
Market Match is just one of our many endeavors to make healthy food accessible for all.
