Halloween and Day of the Dead Celebration at our Farmers’ Market, 10/29/13

20131025halloweenIt’s time for a favorite annual event at the Farmers’ Market, our cross-cultural Halloween/Day of the Dead (El Día de los Muertos) Celebration. This coming Tuesday, the Farmers’ Market will be in full color, with live Aztec dance, live Caribbean music by Asheba, free all-ages costume making with East Bay Depot for Creative Reuse, face painting, a Day of the Dead Altar, and more. Bring an offering to add to the altar created by the Bay Area Hispano Institute for Advancement (BAHIA), to honor life, farmers’ labor, and those that have sacrificed their health and lives for our well being and for food justice.

Here’s the schedule for time-specific parts of the celebration, other activities are ongoing through the afternoon:

3:00 pm – 4:00 pm – Asheba performs Caribbean Music for Children of all ages
4:00 pm – 4:30 pm – Aztec dance performance by Cuauhtli Mitotiani Mexica
4:00 pm – 5:00 pm – Free Day of the Dead Sugar Skull Decorating Activity led by Rita Pettit
4:30 pm – 5:30 pm – Live Caribbean music by Asheba
