After a dozen national parks have been created and 50 years have passed, Stephen Mather helps persuade Congress to create the National Parks Service, established in 1916. The Grand Canyon, Mount McKinley, Zion, Bryce Canyon, Arches, Acadia and Hawaii’s volcanoes are made into national parks.
