Hands on cooking demonstrations with Chef Helga Alessio
35% of edible food is wasted in the USA and 25% lands in our garbage bins. In this Farmers Market Cooking series, learn to feed your family instead of using the compost bin and at the same time save up to $1,500 a year for a family of four by making the most of your food and creating delicious meals.
Chef Helga Alessio, graduate of the “Stop Food Waste” Environmental Educator Training, will bring in-person cooking demonstrations to the Ecology Center’s Farmers’ Markets throughout 2023. She will demonstrate and share delicious recipes using seasonal ingredients available from our farmers and show you how to use every nutritious part of each ingredient so that you have minimal food waste while stretching your grocery budget.
Learn about meal planning, shopping, food preparation, cooking, and food storage. You will come away knowing that healthy eating is accessible and, by using Chef Helga’s tips, you will learn how to save time and make food last longer while saving water, energy, and resources.
Recipes will be available in advance so that you can plan to purchase ingredients from that week’s Farmers’ Markets.
Sign up now to receive recipes, shopping lists and updates for each demonstration.
