Environment Now

(A project of the San Francisco Department of the Environment.) Environment Now is a green job training program that helps prepare workers for jobs in the green industry. The program supports soft skills development, workforce readiness, and technical job skills in addition to ecoliteracy and environmental stewardship.

Program participants draw on these skills to conduct environmental outreach activities throughout San Francisco, with an emphasis on neighborhoods in need. Because many Environment Now participants come from these underserved communities, they are able to reach traditionally hard-to-reach audiences and boost community participation in the City’s environmental initiatives. Projects in these neighborhoods range from energy efficiency and recycling to toxics reduction and food security.
