The Berkeley Farmers’ Markets are Expanding!

As the season and weather changes, summertime farmers are returning to market, and more shoppers too! In order to continue to maintain a safe market for all, with adequate space for social distancing, the City of Berkeley has provided additional space for all three of the Berkeley Farmers’ Market in order to safely space out vendor booths and customers waiting to shop with vendors.

These changes will last only until the Berkeley Public Health Department determines social distancing is no longer required at essential businesses, at farmers’ markets in particular, or once the market shrinks again for winter time.

Here’s a quick overview of the market changes:

Downtown Berkeley Farmers’ Market

Starting Saturday, May 16th, the Saturday Downtown Berkeley Farmers’ Market will occupy both Center Street and Allston Way, adjacent to Civic Center Park. Frog Hollow Farm and Pastry, Riverdog Farm, Blue Heron Farm, Off Beet Farm, and Pomo Tierra Ranch (Bernie’s Best Apple Cider) will now be found on Allston Street, and as more vendors return for summer, like Peach Jamboree and Lucero Organics, we’ll be adding these vendors to the Allston Way line up.

South Berkeley Farmers’ Market

Starting Tuesday, May 26th, the South Berkeley Farmers’ Market will extend west, down 63rd Street, towards King Street. Blue Heron Farm and Lou Vue Farm will now be found on 63rd Street, in addition to our food artisans who are currently located on 63rd Street: Andy’s Thai, Tamales La Oaxaqueña, Bolani, Fruit Tree Smoothies, Donna’s Tamales, and Little Fish Company. In the coming weeks, you’ll also find Frog Hollow Farm, Lucero Organics, and Peach Jamboree on 63rd Street as they return for the season.

North Berkeley Farmers’ Market

We’ve added the area adjacent to the north end of the market between Shattuck Ave. and Rose St. to accommodate our growing market. In the new expansion area, you’ll find Riverdog Farm, Triple Delight Blueberries, and other seasonal vendors as they return.
