Plastic Free South Berkeley: Neighborhood Clean Up & #BreakFreeFromPlastic Brand Audit
Tue, July 25, 2023 2:30 pm – 6:00 pm
South Berkeley Farmer's Market, 63rd and Adeline
Who is responsible for the plastic pollution in your neighborhood? For six years the #BreakFreeFromPlastic movement has been compiling data on which companies produce the plastic litter found in our neighborhoods, environment, and watersheds and collected from community members like you. At the end of each year this information is compiled into a global report and has been used to hold plastic producing companies accountable. Join the Ecology Center in taking part in this movement by cleaning up and auditing litter in South Berkeley! Bring your own gloves and buckets to pick up litter if possible, we will have equipment for folks who need it.
While a neighborhood clean up alone can feel like a reaction to the plastics problem, by collecting and leveraging data we can make a lasting impact by going after those who have made plastics so pervasive. Join the Ecology Center for Plastic Free South Berkeley: Neighborhood Clean Up & #BreakFreeFromPlastic Brand Audit. Together we will pick up litter and record its data to be submitted to #BreakFreeFromPlastic’s Global Brand Audit.
Feel free to come for part or all of the event.
This event is outside, please bring water, sunscreen, and a hat. Closed toed shoes are required.
