Soda Series

Soda: the Series was a line up of six events that offered conversations about sugary drinks and their impact on the health of families, community and environment. Topics included the science of how sugary drinks are processed by our bodies, tactics of the soda industry, and model disease prevention efforts, like Mexico’s newly implemented national soda tax. The events were held in the fall of 2014 in Berkeley, CA. On November 4, 75% of Berkeley voters passed Measure D, a tax on sugary drinks, and the first tax of its kind in the country. Soda: the Series was sponsored by the Berkeley Healthy Child Coalition, Ecology Center, Public Health Institute, Prevention Institute and Small Planet Institute.
