China’s Yangtze River — and all the life that surrounds it — is undergoing an astonishing transformation wrought by the largest hydroelectric project in history, the Three Gorges Dam. The filmmaker returns to the area for a “farewell cruise” through the now-disappearing landscape in which his grandfather grew up.
