The National Parks, America’s Best Idea: Episode 5, Great Nature (1933-1945)

Franklin D. Roosevelt expands the national park idea to include battlefields and other historic sites, with parks in the Olympic Peninsula, Florida’s Everglades, Wyoming’s Teton Mountains and California’s High Sierras. He also creates the Civilian Conservation Corps to provide jobs and to improve conditions in national parks. Wildlife preservation concerns are also addressed. Also on this disc is the special feature: “The National Parks: This is America”.
