The Ecology Center depends on the generosity of our supporters. There are many ways to support the Ecology Center:
Donations
Donate to the Ecology Center by clicking the Donate button on our website, calling the Administrative Coordinator at 510-548-2220 x235, or mailing a check to the Ecology Center. Donors who give $25 or more receive full member benefits, which include 10% discounts on all Store merchandise, 20% off all books, discounts on Ecology Center classes and workshops, library privileges, invitations to members-only events, and a steady stream of perks from partnering businesses. Anonymous donations are also greatly appreciated!
Donate Your Vehicle
Turn your old car, boat or truck into cash for the Ecology Center. Vehicle donations are easy to make and fully tax-deductible. The Ecology Center has partnered with The Vehicle Donation Processing Center to manage vehicle donations.
The Vehicle Donation Processing Center takes your information by phone, handles all documents, arranges for pick up, sale and distribution of proceeds which are split between the Processing Center and the Ecology Center.
When you donate a vehicle you:
- Enjoy free pick-up on your schedule
- Avoid DMV paperwork or smog hassles, and,
- Qualify for a lawful IRS tax deduction
- Avoid the stress of selling a used car: no posting ads, no phone calls, no showing the car repeatedly, no price negotiation. With some restrictions, cars are accepted running or not.

If you would like to donate stock, our Deputy Director can guide you through the process. Email or call Deborah Beyea at 510-526-1131. Your gift of stock is tax deductible to the fullest extent allowable by law.
Gift Memberships
Ecology Center gift memberships can be purchased online, through the Ecology Center Store, or by calling us at 510-548-2220 x235. The gift recipient will receive all the benefits of an Ecology Center membership.
Gift Certificates
Gift certificates to our Store or Farmers’ Markets make thoughtful gifts. Store gift certificates can be purchased at our Store. Farmers’ Markets gift certificates can be purchased at any of our Farmers’ Markets. To purchase these items over the phone, call 510-548-2220 x235.
Shop with Partnering Businesses
Sign up to be a Basemeenter at Sports Basement Berkeley, and designate the Ecology Center as the beneficiary. You’ll get 10% off your purchases, and we’ll get a portion under their profit sharing model.
Matching Gifts
Some companies will match an employee’s gift to charitable organizations. Ask your HR or payroll department to see if your company matches employee donations to qualified nonprofits. We are happy to fill out the forms your employer may require for matching gifts.
Workplace Giving
Give to the Ecology Center through your company’s payroll deduction program. Ask your employer if they match your donations.
Planned Giving, Wills, and Bequests
When consulting with your financial advisor or estate planner about your will, consider giving to the Ecology Center as a meaningful way to honor your values and your commitment to leave the world a better place. If you choose to name the Ecology Center in a bequest, use this language: “Ecology Center, a non-profit organization organized and existing under the laws of California, and with a current business address of 2530 San Pablo Avenue, Berkeley, CA 94702. Federal ID #94-1703351.”
