Free Talk on Edible and Medicinal Plants of the Bay Area, Sunday, 9/23/12

Published September 21, 2012 · Written by Ecology Center

Join us for the fifth event in our “Reclaim, Rebuild, Reskill” series, a discussion about beneficial plants that grow among us! This talk is from noon to 1 pm, just before the Lorin Station crop swap, which participants are encouraged to join as well. Herbalist Tellur Fenner will give us an overview of the diverse array of both edible and medicinal plants found growing within our Bay Area micro-climates. Historical and modern medicinal applications will be touched upon, along with any edible and/or utilitarian potential. Tips on basic plant identification will be offered, with an emphasis on how to differentiate poisonous look-alike plants from their beneficial counterparts. Plant family characteristics will be discussed as well. Bring medicinal herbs you are growing to share and discuss, or to swap! We hope you’ll join this Sunday, September 23rd at the green space on the corner of Alcatraz and Adeline. For more information, click here.
