Cultured started their business in 1996 after the birth of their first child, as a sprout, microgreen, and wheatgrass business at the Berkeley Farmers’ Markets. Within a couple of years, they also started selling sauerkraut, miso, and sprouted beans. They moved into their current production facility in West Berkeley in 2006. We strongly encourage our customers to shop at out kitchen. They believe this direct producer/consumer contact is critical a vibrant, local economy. Cultured sources the majority of their produce locally, most notably they have had a relationship with Riverdog Farm since the beginning of their business 20+ years ago. They make traditional and innovative sauerkraut, kimchi, tsukemono, seasonal, specialty pickles, and kombucha.
