Hands On Workshop: Winter Pickles for the People – SOLD OUT

Pickling preserves what’s in season for later pleasure! Join us at the Ecology Center to learn how to take fresh heads of cauliflower and onion bulbs and make delicious pickles! Eat these tasty treats on their own, or add them to a bowl, sandwich, or snack plate. Each student will leave with their very own jar of pickles (you can bring or buy a second jar if you’d like to do both varieties), as well as the knowledge to continue their pickling journey at home. The ingredients will be organic and locally sourced from the Berkeley Farmers’ Market, and the jars will be sourced from the Ecology Center Store.

Pickles are an excellent accompaniment to many meals, as well as a way to use produce up before it goes bad, or to preserve what is excess.

This workshop is part of our Hands-on Harvest Series, teaching people how to make the most of what’s in season and avoid food waste. Workshop attendees will receive discounts on Ecology Center Store preservation and fermentation products.
