Eye on Fire: a Fire Evaluation Workshop

Sunday | October 14, 2018 | 10:00 am — 11:30 am

Climate change is bringing the threat of fire into sharp focus. Join us in the EcoHouse outdoor classroom for this hands-on workshop, which is
an introduction to evaluating gardens, landscapes, and neighborhoods with an eye on fire.  We will discuss the “big picture” of fireand the environmental synergies, while learning how everyone can mitigate the threat.  This interactive workshop will begin with evaluating the EcoHouse property as a learning experience to take home so you can evaluate the risks and mitigation measures in your own living situation.  Both renters and owners may benefit from this workshop, though their control over specific situations may vary.  Participants will learn some of the key building blocks for making more informed decisions as we all learn to live with fire in mind.
Please bring something to take notes on – a pad and pen, smart phone, etc.  The workshop will be an intellectual exercise, not a physical work day, so physical demands are relatively low, but we do ask that you bring your thinking cap!  In the end, your new expertise will create a checklist of to-do items to better enhance fire resiliency.
