State of the Region: Fighting Resegregation Through Community Control

Thursday | November 15, 2018 | 9:30 am — 4:00 pm

The California Endowment’s Oakland Conference Center | 2000 Franklin St, Oakland, CA 94612

ABOUT

The Bay Area is at a crossroad. Low-income communities and communities of color are being displaced from their homes and neighborhoods. Public goods such as transit and land are increasingly being commodified for profit. Residents who are most impacted by these injustices are too often denied their right to determine the future of their communities.

In response, communities across the Bay Area are fighting local campaigns for housing justice, community control of land, and the protection of public services against privatization. Together, these local grassroots efforts are challenging the growing inequality and building a more equitable region.
