Saturday Science, Drop In Science Workshops for Families

Drop by the Randall Museum’s Science Studio and discover the wonders of science. From learning about rainbows or amphibians, to experimenting with motion and vision, the project-based activities explore a different science topic each week. Most classes produce a fun project to take home for continued discoveries.

*On the third Saturday of each month there will a special Astronomy Science activity in the Pop-up Planetarium in the Randall Theater.

January 4:    RAINBOW SCIENCE
Drop-in to discover the wonders of rainbows. Find and catch rainbows to brighten this winter day.
January 11:    FROGGY ORIGAMI
Meet some of the Randall’s amphibian residents, learn about the unique life cycles of frogs, and make a froggy origami to take home.
January 18:   POP-UP PLANETARIUM*
Hear stories about the stars with guest astronomer Aaron White from California Academy of Sciences in the Randall’s Pop-up Planetarium. 10:30 am –1:00 pm; show times every half hour
January 25:   ZOETROPE
Explore the science behind vision and motion while you make a spinning zoetrope that creates the illusion of motion.
