Regenerative Agriculture: Join the Movement!
Thursday | February 18, 2021 | 7:00 pm — 8:30 pm
Join Doniga Markegard, a regenerative rancher featured in the new Netflix documentary Kiss the Ground as she shares her expertise and unique perspective in Holistic Land Management as a pathway for large-scale grassland restoration.
Blending principles of nature and permaculture, Doniga will weave a journey of raising healthy livestock while also increasing plant diversity, building soil, and providing nutrient dense foods for thousands of families. By mimicking patterns found in nature, you will learn how communities can cultivate food with greater nutrition while providing carbon sequestration and returning biodiversity and abundance to the land. Through her direct experience in stewarding 10,000 acres of rangeland in California, Doniga offers real-world stories and lessons in regenerative ranching.
Ecology Center Farmers Market ranchers, will join Doniga to discuss the devastating impact the industrial agricultural system on our environment and introduce you to regenerative grazing and the need for an increasing societal awareness about the extraordinary benefits of healthy soil. The class will be encouraged to join the discussion about regenerative agriculture and this alternative approach to farming that has the potential to balance our climate, replenish our vast water supplies, and feed the world.
Learn the steps you can take to support regenerative, sustainable agricultural by buying healthy soils, plants and food from farmers and agriculturists who support working in harmony with the environment and how you can become leaders who can implement change at a community level and within the key sectors of business, policy, media, and education. They will invite you to reconnect with your relationship with soil and provide pathways for everyone to participate in the movement.
