Virtual! “Quirky Crowns” Upcycled Art Camp For Kids – Week Three
Monday | June 15, 2020 | 10:00 am — 11:15 am
Housebound kids can be the King or Queen of their castle!
Artist and Environmental Educator, Nancy Judd and the Ecology Center are joining efforts to offer a series of arts-based, interactive virtual learning recycle projects for housebound kids.
In this first of a four-week virtual recycle art camp, Kid’s can make their own unique crowns made from scraps and odds and ends hidden in their home recycling bin. In each session students will be taught transferable skills and create their own UpCycled Maker Kit to use for future projects.
These classes are child-centered, immersive and interdisciplinary lessons that help children connect with their community and environmental issues while at home.
Nancy includes mindfulness exercises to help students learn to self-regulate in times of stress; movement breaks; standards based learning goals; and strategies to help children cope with stressful Covid-19 conditions (CDC recommendations). Nancy will interact with children as they work– answering questions, providing direction and giving encouragement.
