The Occidental Arts and Ecology Center (OAEC) will hold its annual Fall Plant Sale fundraiser on Saturday, August 19th and Sunday, August 20th and the following weekend, August 26th and 27th. Hours are from 10am – 5pm. Admission is free.
Artist and former garden intern Catherine Sieck will be showing and selling artwork inspired by her time living and working in the OAEC garden. Visit her website catherinesieck.com
Tours of the gardens will be offered from 1 – 2:30pm on Sunday, August 20th and Sunday, August 27th.
The OAEC Nursery will be selling hundreds of open-pollinated, heirloom and rare varieties – an even wider selection than ever before! All are California Certified Organic – many started from their own seed collection – and have been trialed, tasted, and savored for years in their renowned demonstration gardens and kitchen.
Plant now to enjoy food all winter long! A diverse winter garden, planted early in the fall while the soil is still warm, can produce well through the end of the year and into Spring. This sale will feature cool season crops including brassicas such as kale, broccoli, collards, romanesco and cauliflower; Asian choys and cabbages; salad greens; chards; leeks, onions and scallions; edible flowers like calendulas; and cool weather herbs such as chervil and cilantro.
They also offer a wide array of perennial food crops, medicinal and culinary herbs, drought-tolerant ornamentals, and permaculture plants as well as many plants of ethnobotanical interest from around the world.
The OAEC garden staff will be on hand to tell you about their diverse selections.Visit Event Website >>
