Oakland Transit Equity Day/Rosa Parks Birthday Celebration

Monday | February 04, 2019 | 8:00 am — 9:00 am

Bus Stop at 14th St & Broadway | 1333 Broadway, Oakland, CA 94612

Celebrate Transit Equity Day to honor Rosa Parks on her birthday. Her act of resistance by refusing to give up her seat on the bus in 1955 was a catalyst for the civil rights movement. It affirmed that everyone has the right to equal access to public transit.

Commemorate Rosa Parks’ legacy by the bus stop in front of Walgreens at 14th Street and Broadway in Downtown Oakland from 8:00-9:00 am on Monday, February 4, 2019 to show support for equity in transportation and public transit as a key strategy to confront climate change.

There will be a few brief speakers, powerful messaging around equitable public transit to address our climate crisis, and a positive environment to show up for a transit equity!

Please bring a sign with your personal message for transit equity, or just to say Happy Birthday Rosa Parks!
