Mushrooms: Food, Foraging and Future Uses of Fungi

Bay Area experts talk about mushrooms: foraging wild mushrooms in the woods, growing them, and sustainable ways fungi can be used in our environment. Ken Litchfield, botanist/herbalist, applied biology instructor and mushroom forager, will discuss collecting and growing mushrooms responsibly for personal and social circle use. John Garrone, owner of Far West Fungi, sells mushrooms at the Heart of the City Farmers’ Market and at the Ferry Building. He will discuss commercial organic farming of mushrooms. Phil Ross is an artist and bioengineering scholar at Stanford University.
