Berkeley Harvest Festival

Saturday | October 13, 2018 | 11:00 am — 4:00 pm

Join the City of Berkeley for their 2nd Annual Harvest Festival!

Enjoy the following and much more…

  • Food Contest – Show off your awesome recipes, from baked goods to jams and jellies, everyone is welcome!  Entries may be submitted by individuals, households, neighborhoods and/or groups.  There is no charge, all entries are free.  Multiple entries in for each category are welcome!  This contest is a fun and friendly opportunity for community members to show the bounty of their gardens and kitchens.  All items submitted should feature a main ingredient that could feasibly be grown in Berkeley.  Categories may be split into sub-categories on the day of the event, depending on the number of entries.  All participants will receive recognition and place ribbons will be awarded in each category (maximum one place ribbon per category for participants who have multiple entries in that category).  Please bring your items by 10:15am on the morning of the event.  Judging will start at 10:30am and winners will be announced by 1:30pm.  All items must be picked up by 2pm or they will be recycled/composted.  For any questions, please contact Steph at schu@cityofberkeley.info.
  • Kid Zone – Children will have tons of fun at the Kids Zone, whether conquering the climbing wall, running the obstacle course, bowling with pumpkins, or making a scarecrow. Other kids’ activities include face painting, pumpkin decorating, a petting zoo, carnival games with prizes, and a Junior Forester Challenge.
  • Live Music – In order to inspire more urban farming, more homemade food, and healthier eating, the Food and Garden Exhibitions will host a Crop Swap, Seed Swap, and guided tours of nearby community gardens, as well as garden demonstrations.  Participating organizations include the Ecology Center, Transition Berkeley, Berkeley Community Gardening Collaborative, and BUSD Gardening and Cooking Program.
