Backyard Chicken Coop Tour

Sunday | September 29, 2019 | 1:00 pm — 2:30 pm

Join the Biofuel Oasis for a guided tour of local backyard chicken coops. We will start with a discussion led by Biofuel Oasis’s chicken instructor Jacquelyn Frost on keeping chickens in the city and then we will visit two to three coops within a mile of the Biofuel Oasis. We will cover Berkeley/Oakland city chicken ordinances, the basic design of a coop, coop security and cleaning, and the joys of keeping chickens.   We will meet at the Biofuel Oasis and then walk together to the different coop locations. Bring water and snacks if you would like them. You’re welcome to bike if you’d prefer. Total distance traveled will be about 1.3 miles, with stops to split up the walk. If you have accessibility concerns or would like more info, please reach out to Tess at biofueloasis@gmail.com.  Instructor biography: Jacquelyn Frost has been raising and training animals of all shapes and sizes for over 20 years, with chickens being her latest adventure. She has been known to direct unsuspecting conversation partners into talking about backyard chicken keeping.
