Amish Knotting from Scrap Materials
Saturday | November 16, 2019 | 3:00 pm — 5:00 pm
Ecology Center Classroom | 2530 San Pablo Avenue, Berkeley, CA 94702
Discover how easy it is to turn some old rags into a beautiful and useful item from materials that would otherwise be thrown away.
Amish Knotting or “Toothbrush Weaving” is one, simple, buttonhole stitch that can be adapted easily to many projects…rugs, market bags, pillows, etc… No experience necessary, just bring any “past use” sheet, towels or anything that can be torn or cut into longish strips. Popsicle sticks (the only necessary tool) provided.
Artist, Judith Schonebaum, who has created her own collection of clothing, accessories and more made of recycled and repurposed materials, will show you how to create items that are useful and beautiful while being mindful of waste.
Enjoy the simple pleasure of doing handwork using recycled materials in a friendly group atmosphere.
