Ventana Wilderness is open for backpacking and wilderness trips in the Central Coast region. The Condor Reintroduction Program brings birds of prey back into the wild, including bald eagles and condors, since 1985. The Sanctuary is a nonprofit that works closely with zoos, Big Sur Natural History Assoc., Dept. of Parks and Recreation, CA Dept. of Fish and Game, and the US Fish and Wildlife Service.
