The Ecology Center maintains a public library that focuses on the environmental concerns of Californians, with particular emphasis on the Bay Area. Our library is open to everyone for reference. If you are an Ecology Center member, you can check out books and videos.

Our collection of books, reports, periodicals, do-it-yourself pamphlets, and DVD and VHS videos features subjects including toxics, renewable energy, permaculture, gardening, globalization, recycling, environmental education, sustainable development, climate change action, and environmental justice. Special collections include archives of our magazine, Terrain, dating back to 1979; extensive files on the Headwaters Forest; data on plastics and their impact on health and the environment, and environmental education curriculum.

LIBRARY HOURS: 11:00am – 6:00pm Tuesday through Sunday
LOCATION: 2530 San Pablo Avenue, Berkeley, CA 94702
