This past spring and summer our Youth Environment Academy Scholars participated in a variety of eye-opening excursions in the Bay Area. From touring environmental justice focused farms, to seeing the ins and outs of the Recycling Center operations, participants had the opportunity to engage in activities that they may not have regularly had the chance to. With these field trips out in the community, we’re aiming to prepare youth for careers across many environmental sectors that improve the well-being of East Bay communities and beyond.
As the year transitions from summer to fall, we’re excited to welcome two new youth staff to the team. Bianca and Lucia are joining us with a strong desire to learn more about the environment and to work side by side with their peers to educate and bring awareness to the community about climate issues that matter to them.
This September our Youth Staff attended the Bay Area Youth Climate Summit where they engaged in a day of community-building and solution-oriented, interdisciplinary climate education. Youth Staff participated in a variety of interactive workshops led by incredible folks fighting to build a more sustainable world from all sides of the movement. Youth staff walked away feeling inspired and empowered to continue on their journey of change making along with a Take Home Climate Action packet to keep the wheels churning!
