Have you been wondering about our wacky wintry spring weather? Remember our June-like January? Our local weather recently has been unpredictable, but we’ve been lucky so far in the Bay Area. With climate change contributing to erratic weather patterns, the best strategy is to be informed and prepared. This Saturday, May 5th, a global event organized by 350.org called Connect the Dots, will “connect the dots between climate change and extreme weather.” Read on for details about Transition Berkeley’s bike ride and photo and to get involved in Saturday’s events.
Our friends at Transition Berkeley are inviting everyone to participate in a Climate Solutions, Climate Reality Bike Ride. Help put Berkeley and the Bay Area on the map of global activities for the day! Description and schedule below. Not in the East Bay? To search a list of events by location, click here.
Climate Solutions, Climate Reality Bike Ride: Join us for a fun group bike tour to connect the dots between fossil fuel use and recent extreme weather patterns. This free, all-ages bike ride will focus on local people who are combating the climate crisis, making brief stops at sustainable local businesses before meeting at the Berkeley Marina to measure projected sea level rise for a memorable 350.org photo. Bike ride starts at 12 pm. Or meet us at the Berkeley Marina for the photo at 2 pm. To end the day, we’ll kick back at Cafe Leila for food and fun! Bring your friends, your bikes, and most of all yourselves! Feel free to decorate and print out blue circular dots (climatedots.org) to put on your bike or your clothing!
