Remove Plastic Pollution from the Bay at Shoreline Cleanup this Saturday, 7/16/16

20160404earthdayBe hands-on in removing plastic from our bay! Join the Berkeley Marina Experience Programs this Saturday, July 16 for a shoreline cleanup. We’ll head out to collect litter and record data, which will help change laws to improve the health of our ecosystem. A speaker will share updates on California’s bag ban – a critical plastic pollution issue. There will be a giant plastic bag art creation to inspire you! We’ll have a drawing with lots of Plastic-Free prizes from our Store for participants.

What you should plan for to participate:

  • Wear sturdy tie on shoes — no sandals, flip flops or Crocs.
  • Wear pants not shorts as you might be kneeling on rocks/sand/dirt.
Dress like an onion so you can peel off the layers as the temperature rises. It can be cold in the morning, and warmer in the afternoon and windy.
  • People should bring a reusable water bottle, hat, and sunscreen. If possible, bring your own gloves and a reusable bucket — if you do not have them they will be provided.

All participants need to sign waivers, and children under the age of 18 need to have their parent sign their waiver. Pre-register by email: naturecenter@cityofberkeley.info

Please note how many people will be in your party and what ages. We hope you will join us from 9AM -1PM! Click here for more details.
