On October 12, Sunday Streets Berkeley returns to Shattuck Ave, with car-free open streets from Haste to Rose. From 11 am to 5 pm downtown Berkeley will be full of FREE activities such as yoga, hula hoops, music, kids games, dance, martial arts, art activities, soccer, slack-lining and more. This event offers great benefits to our community, from supporting local businesses to modeling what fewer cars on our streets can feel like. Last year, a working group of the Berkeley Climate Action Coalition took a survey of event participants and found that this car-free event led to an average savings of 5.9 lbs of CO2 emissions per person! The Ecology Center will be there with a booth near Francisco Street, playing games, handing out prizes, and drawing with chalk on the street. Come say hi as you cycle, stroll, discover, skate and play in more than a mile of open streets! Visit www.sundaystreetsberkeley.org for more information. We hope to see you out there!
