Two festive events are coming to our Farmers’ Markets next week.
First up, celebrate the launch of two food-centric children’s books with Readers-to-Eaters at our Thursday North Berkeley Farmers’ Market. Author Katherine Pryor will read her book Sylvia’s Spinach, followed by author Jacqueline Briggs Martin sharing her all new book Alice Waters and the Trip to Delicious. The Berkeley Public Library will be joining the festivities at market from 3-7 with their mobile library Rolling Reader, stocked with food and nutrition themed books for kids and adults! On Saturday, September 20, a classic farmers’ market event returns for another year: the String Band Contest! Part of the Berkeley Old Time Music Convention, twenty old-time string bands will perform in a friendly competition for Farmers’ Market tokens. Anything goes, as long as it’s acoustic. The action begins promptly at 11:00 with a performance by the young Manning Music Fiddlers. Join the fun! For more details about this event, click here.
