Get in the Loop! Did you know West Berkeley has the highest concentration of independent, home improvement businesses in the Bay Area? On Saturday, July 20th, these merchants invite you to explore the West Berkeley Design Loop, and participate in free DIY workshops. Enter a sweepstakes at each of the 20 participating stores (including the Ecology Center) for a chance to win one of three $500 shopping sprees! The West Berkeley Design Loop is a cluster of independent, home improvement businesses in West Berkeley. You can build a home from the ground up with the resources in the Loop, and furnish it too! From lumber to roofing, plumbing and lighting, flooring and furniture, you’ll find it all here. The Ecology Center offers practical books for ecological homes and gardens, gardening supplies, home decor items, and free information about improving your home’s resource efficiency. In collaboration with other members of the Loop, if we don’t have what you need for your project, we can direct you to another merchant that does.
