Our annual event to honor deceased loved ones, farmworkers, and celebrate with festive costumes returns to the South Berkeley Farmers’ Market. Please join us, Tuesday, October 28 from 2 – 6pm in honoring and celebrating.
This year, a community altar by artist and youth activist Emma Gomez will pay tribute to community members and workers that have passed on. The altar will also recognize those that have sacrificed their health and lives for our well-being and for food justice. Community members are invited to bring photos and belongings to commemorate the deceased and add to the community altar. Offerings of fruits, food items, and cards are also welcomed.
A number of hands-on activities for the whole family will be provided, including:
- Aztec Dance Troupe Performance
- Sugar Skull Decorating
- Weird and Wacky Science
- Live Caribbean Music for Children
- Re-use Costume Making
- and much more!
This is a free event, come on out and join the celebration!
