Dr. Art Sussman, author of Guide to Planet Earth, uses clear, down-to-earth language to explain the key concepts of Earth systems science, Dr. Art directs the WestEd Eisenhower Regional Consortium for Science and Math Education (WERC), one of ten regional education laboratories funded by the U.S. Department of Education. This site grew out of a project to develop and implement a new Earth systems science course for Utah high school students. Activities, "brainers," and useful animated graphics are featured.

Sparked by former US Poet Laureate Robert Hass and a group of environmentalists, River of Words is an environmental art and poetry program created to promote watershed awareness, literacy, and the arts. They hold a national art and poetry contest, conduct educator training workshops, and offer curriculum. The workshop's curriculum integrates outdoor observation, investigation and journaling with English, math, science, social studies, and the arts.

Earth Team connects Bay Area teenagers, teachers and youth leaders with numerous environmental, educational, and government organizations. Earth Team aims to connect high school environmental clubs and classes with others of similar interest, and to introduce active, engaging environmental experiences. Their site serves as a central location for organizing, mobilizing and disseminating information.

The Center for Ecoliteracy awards grants to school communities and educational organizations in the San Francisco Bay-Delta region engaged in fostering the experience and understanding of the natural world. The Center hopes to foster networks as a collaborative strategy that encourages teachers and administrators to work together to reach their goals. Network members meet regularly to develop awareness, build knowledge, translate knowledge into practice, and reflect on their practice.

Marin County Conservation Corps offers the youth of Marin County (ages 18-30) meaningful employment, education and training opportunities through projects that conserve natural resources, deliver human services, and respond to public emergencies. MCC Corpsmembers work to preserve the beautiful environment in Marin while earning High School Diplomas, GEDs, or college credit. Through MCC's AmeriCorps program, Corpsmembers can earn education awards for future college classes, or past college loans.

ActionBioscience.org is an education resource of the American Institute of Biological Sciences, aiming to promote literacy.  The site provides peer-reviewed articles on issues related to seven bioscience challenges: environment, biodiversity, genomics, biotechnology, evolution, new frontiers in science, and bioscience education.  In addition, the web site provides educators with original lessons and other resources to enhance bioscience teaching.  Select articles are translated into Spanish. The site was chosen as the 2003 best biology site by Scientific American and the Eisenhower National Clearinghouse of the U.S. Dept. of Education honored it with the Digital Dozen Award for quality content in 2002.
