Volunteers Needed for the Annual Shoreline Clean-up

One of the side effects of living in a world full of disposable plastic products is that our beaches are littered with plastic spoons, bags, and wrappers. The currents of the North Pacific Gyre have trapped an island of garbage larger than the size of Texas in the central North Pacific Ocean. But we can take some measures to reverse this disturbing trend. One is to participate in the Annual Shoreline Clean-up on September 25th. Click here to participate in this international effort.

Another thing you can do is live by example and diminish the use of single-use disposable plastic products. There are many alternatives to plastic! Download our fact sheet on how to store fruits and vegetables without plastic. Or, click here to read about the adverse health effects of plastic.
