Work-Study: Climate Action Assistant
NOTE: This position is only available to students who have financial aid work-study available to them. The student is paid by their college or in conjunction with their college. PLEASE DO NOT APPLY IF YOU ARE NOT A STUDENT WITH A WORK-STUDY AWARD.
Summary of Responsibilities:
This position assists the Climate Action Coordinator with various tasks and projects related to the Climate Change Action Project (CCAP). The Information Program Assistant is a part-time, hourly position. Currently, the job is approximately 10 hour per week position with preferred work hours scheduled on Mondays, Tuesdays, or Fridays, 1pm - 5pm, though alternative hours can be arranged.
Primary Responsibilities of the Climate Action Assistant include:
- Promote and recruit participants for Climate Change Action Groups (CCAGs) and facilitator trainings through on-line postings, coordination with partner organizations, flyering and occasional tabling at events.
- Oversee the registration process for CCAGs held at the Ecology Center.
- Enter and maintain contact information for community members interested in the CCAP to an electronic database.
- Other tasks as assigned by the Climate Action Coordinator.
Preferred qualifications:
- Accountability and capacity to complete tasks within an assigned timeframe.
- Experience working with the public and a friendly approach.
- Experience with program outreach and promotion.
- Familiarity with web resources for event promotion and networking.
- Accuracy and carefulness with the quality of one’s work.
- Interest in environmental issues, social justice, and social change work.
- Ability to work in a lively group atmosphere and contribute to the creation of a positive community space.
- Punctual and on-time for work shifts. Dependable.
