About Farm Fresh Choice
WHAT IS FARM FRESH CHOICE?
FFC is a food justice and youth empowerment program that works to restore balance in the health of our communities through sustainable food system's change and education that builds off of the power in our cultural roots. We are a strategic partnership of youth and adult coordinators bridging critical analysis, compassion, and creativity to advance the resilience of our communities.
Our community outreach, workshops, and classes encourage and support:
- Reclaiming sustainable lifestyles as the Norm
- Stewardship for fairness in the Food Chain for People and Planet
- Critical analysis of root causes to Health inequities and Systems of Power, while directing energy towards co-creating vibrant communities
- Personal Ecology-Simple meditation and physical activity that relieves stress, strengthens focus, boosts energy and mental clarity
FARM FRESH CHOICE MISSION
Farm Fresh Choice’s mission is to engage our low-income residents of south and west Berkeley in reclaiming their optimal health through youth empowerment, nutrition education, and community outreach that reaffirms our collective ancestral wisdom and our relationship to nourishing foods. The program makes fresh, organic, regionally grown, and culturally appropriate foods convenient for purchase at after school programs through partnerships with local farmers that reflect our communities of color.
