Workshop: Water-Wise Planting and Garden Care at Robbins Park Food Forest

This event has passed.

In 2012 a section of water thirsty lawn at Robbins Park was transformed into a water-wise food forest. Once turf, the site now features water saving earth works, drip irrigation, and plants that provide food, medicine, and habitat. If you’re interested in learning how to save water while still producing food this day is for you!

We’ll start the day touring the site giving special attention to the water-wise features that can be applied to home gardens. Learn principles and practices of water-wise garden design, rain harvesting, ecological plant selection and placement, and soil building.

After the tour we’ll get our hands dirty planting the next generation of food forest allies. We then break for a potluck lunch where you’ll have the opportunity to further connect with neighbors and lovers of Robbins Park. We’ll finish the day adding another layer of soil-building, water-retaining mulch to the site.

Join us for a day of learning, community, and garden care! Register online.
