Location in East Bay, CA
Eager to grow your own food, but not sure where to start?! We’ve got you covered with this in-depth, hands-on beginning gardening workshop series. Growing your own food can be extremely rewarding AND save you money. Even if you just have a small space for a few containers, or a backyard free to grow whatever you’d like, we can teach you the basics of growing food crops that do well here in the Bay Area. Topics covered include: site selection, sowing seeds & transplanting, soil and composting, garden maintenance and harvesting, beneficial and pest insects, backyard animals, and preserving your bountiful harvest. Join us for just one class ($30), or sign up for the entire 7-class series ($185) for optimal veggie gardening success!
Classes will take place on the 4th Saturday of each month, starting in February, from 1-4pm. Classes will be held in either El Sobrante or Richmond at the instructors home gardens (locations will be emailed to students after signing up). Each 3 hour class will combine lecture and hands-on activities so you can get your hands dirty and really get the experience you need to start your own vegetable garden. Each class is $30, or $185 if you sign up for the entire 7-class series. We look forward to sharing our years of knowledge and experience so you too can enjoy sun-ripened tomatoes, vibrant greens, and abundant herbs all year long.
