Winter is an important time to turn inward, relax, rest up and create dreams and visions for the year ahead. Sometimes lack of energy, low mood, stress and other factors limit our ability to reach our full potential during this quiet, more gentle season. In this workshop we will discuss how we can honor and support our body’s unique processes to stay vibrant, energized and inspired all through the winter season. We will look at herbs that nourish the nervous system, reduce stress and anxiety and support depression, as well as herbs that enhance immunity and build our energy reserves. Emphasis will be placed on every day self care practices and how to incorporate the herbs into the lifestyle and diet in a way that is sustainable and affordable.
Brittany Wood Nickerson is a practicing community herbalist, health educator and cook. She brings extensive knowledge of nutrition, cooking and using food as medicine to her training in Western, Ayurvedic and Chinese herbal medicine. Her treatment and teaching approach emphasizes health and healing as an empowered relationship between body, mind and spirit. Brittany runs Thyme Herbal in Amherst, Massachusetts where she maintains an herbal practice and teaches workshops and apprenticeship programs; she also teaches women’s health at the University of Massachusetts. Brittany is the co-organizer of Green Nations Gathering.
