Water Heaters: Past, Present, and Future
Even though the residential storage water heater you installed today looks very much like the water heaters installed ten years ago, there have been significant changes in how storage water heaters are designed and manufactured over the past decade. In addition, new types of water heaters have emerged: tankless water heaters, heat pump water heaters, and high efficiency condensing water heaters. The next five years will see additional changes in the water heating industry. This survey class will cover the efficiency, environmental, and safety changes which have occurred over the last few years for residential storage water heaters and will discuss what you can expect to see in the future. In addition, the design and operation of tankless, heat pump, and condensing water heaters will be discussed to provide the attendee with a knowledge of the strengths and weaknesses of the latest water heating technologies. Intermediate and Advanced attendees will benefit most from this class. Topics are aimed at people already familiar with conventional plumbing types and issues.
