Summer Salmon Institute: Professional Development for Teachers

This event has passed.

Turtle Island’s Salmon Protection and Watershed Network (SPAWN) is offering a unique FREE professional development training in partnership with NOAA’s Bay-Watershed Education and Training (BWET) program to teachers throughout the San Francisco Bay area for a third year.

The Summer Salmon Institute combines expert instructors with standards-based curriculum to provide 3rd through 5th grade teachers the skills and tools to meaningfully connect students to their watersheds year-round. This program uses local endangered salmon as the entry point for investigations into global systems connecting land, water, air, and life. Our goal is to develop educational partnerships with classrooms, building a foundation for students, to engage in ecologically informed civic participation.
